Homemade Apple Butter is a silky smooth spread that’s full of cozy fall flavor. It’s sweet, spiced, and packed with that apple flavor we can’t get enough of! Use it to top biscuits, muffins, breads, or any of your favorite baked goods!
Whisk the apple cider, maple syrup, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a small bowl.
Add the apples to a slow cooker then stir in the apple cider mix.
Cook on high for 4 hours, stirring every hour or so to ensure even cooking.
Use an immersion blender to blend until smooth then turn the heat down to low and cook for another 6-8 hours or until thickened to your liking, stirring every hour or so to prevent burning. (I like mine thick like jam, so I let mine cook for the full 8 hours, but you can cook it longer if you like.)
Serve on toasted English muffins or store in an airtight container once cooled completely in the fridge for up to 2 months.
