Chicken Alfredo Meatball Subs feature mouthwatering and tender chicken meatballs in a rich and creamy homemade Alfredo sauce! Turn them into meatball subs for a super easy dinner!
Ok, if you follow along with me on Instagram you already know that I have been dying to share these meatball subs with you guys! These aren’t your ordinary subs. Instead of beef, we use ground chicken that is seasoned to perfection and made into tasty little meatballs. They are seared and then simmered in my Easy Homemade Alfredo Sauce. Then, into buttered buns, they go for a decadent and fun dinner that only takes about 30 minutes to make!
Chicken Meatballs:
The key to this recipe is the chicken meatballs. Ground chicken doesn’t have a whole lot of flavor on its own so it is important that these are seasoned well and that they come out juicy and tender.
I season my ground chicken with salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder, and Italian seasoning. We also add parmesan for extra flavor and a drizzle of olive oil to keep them moist. Panko and egg bind the meatballs together.
When you first sear the meatballs they won’t be cooked through completely, but, they should be nicely browned on all sides. They will finish cooking in the easy alfredo sauce! That also gives them tons of extra flavor!
Meatball Subs:
Meatball subs are so easy to make in one skillet! No need to pull out any special equipment, or wait for the meatballs to bake! You will form your chicken mixture into balls, then sear them over medium-high heat until browned. Next, remove them from the pan and make your Alfredo sauce.
You will make the sauce without adding the cheese at this point, and add the meatballs back to the pan. Allow them to simmer, covered, for about 10 minutes until they’re completely cooked through.
While the meatballs simmer, I lightly butter my hoagies (or you can just use hot dog buns) and broil them for a couple of minutes until they’re golden. Once the meatballs are ready, you can stir the parmesan cheese into the meatballs and sauce just until the cheese has melted. Then add the meatballs to your prepared buns, sprinkle with parsley if you wish, and you’re ready to eat!
Enjoy!

My family loved it! Even my picky teens!
A litl salty, other than that delicious!! Something different. I cut meatballs in half for my sub and still could only eat half, very filling!!!
These are AMAZING!!! I have made them several times both with homemade alfredo sauce and our favorite jarred. I have a super picky eater and I got a big thumbs up! Thanks for a great recipe ☺
Thank you! I’m so glad you tried them, this is one of my personal favorites! 🙂
Great recipe. My only suggestion, and really the only difference from this and my homemade alfredo, is to put the garlic in the melting butter before the cream goes in for a minute or two.
This sauce is magic! My husband and I loved it these subs for dinner. I would make the sauce even on its own to go over noodles. My meatballs were perfectly cooked as well. They were not dry. I’m a bit challenged in the kitchen and even I could make these taste good. I messed up a few little odd ball things and it still turned out amazing! Will be making again.
These are AMAZING. My family loved them as a weeknight meal, and they are so easy to make and keep warm in the crock pot for a party or potluck. LOVE this recipe!
This is amazing and definitely a keeper. It was so easy and delicious!
This is an awesome recipe! I followed it to the tee! Hubby loved it! Thanks for sharing!
So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks! 🙂
Omg these were so good, I topped them with mozzarella too and made a nice pasta salad to have with them
Yummy! Love that you topped them with extra cheese! 🙂
I served these with steamed veg instead of in rolls. The family absolutely loved them!
We can’t get enough of them! Glad you and your family loved them!! 🙂
Waaaaaayyyyyyyy too much butter. A tablespoon would have been plenty. And I would saute the garlic in it. Then add the cream and seasonings. I also think just 1 cup of the cheese would be plenty.
Hi! When it comes to cooking sometimes it’s a “to each his own” kind of situation. I have had lots of great feedback on this recipe as written, and we happen to love it this way as well. I’m sure if you make it again you can simply adjust the amount of butter and cheese to your preference. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
