I made two changes, one of them I do for all dump cake recipes. The first, for this recipe specifically, I used a spice cake instead of a yellow cake mix and omitted the cinnamon. The change I make for all dump cake recipes is that instead of pats of butter all over the top, I melt one stick of butter and mix it with the cake mix. (It looks like a crumb topping). By doing this, there’s no powdery spots on top of the finished desert and it is more like a cobbler.
